Welsh Water Visit

On November the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ninety Year 11 BTEC Science pupils visited the Welsh Water/Dwr Cymru sewerage works in Cilfynydd, near Pontypridd.
During the day the pupils learned how raw sewerage is cleaned and returned to local rivers. They also had information on the Health and safety procedures at the plant, including writing their own risk assessment.
The most exciting (and smelly!) part of the day was the guided tour of the works where pupils had the opportunity to stand above the inlet channel and look at the raw sewerage coming in. All three days were a huge success and the tasks completed have enabled the pupils to complete their Science and the world of work BTEC unit.
A big thank you to everyone at Welsh Water/Dwr Cymru and EBP for making the days possible. Diolch.
