Treorchy Comprehensive School

It was a great pleasure to attend The Year 11 presentation ceremony at the beginning of this new term where the outstanding achievements of pupils within the Year Group were recognised and Records of Achievement were presented to them.

This term sees the culmination of two years of hard work as our Year 11 and 13 pupils begin their external examinations, for which all staff wish them the very best of luck. Having experienced high quality teaching, learning and guidance from their teachers in preparation for these examinations, there is little doubt that if our pupils work hard and prepare well for each examination they will all reap the rewards and achieve their full potential this summer.
Other pupils at the school are also involved in examinations this term and we also wish them good luck whether their exams be internal or external. All pupils in Years 7-10 will be sitting internal examinations but many pupils in Years 9 and 10 who are involved in accelerated learning will also be sitting some external exams. This will also be the case for Year 12 pupils who will be sitting AS level examinations.
As well as wishing good luck to our current pupils as they embark upon important milestones in their education, this term also sees many staff involved with transition work involving Year 6 pupils from 23 different schools. The work being undertaken aims to ensure that those who are set to join us in September have experiences that will prepare them for a successful transfer into Year 7 followed by seven happy and productive years at Treorchy Comprehensive School. We very much look forward to working with these young people and welcoming them as pupils of the school in September.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Girls Under 16 football team for recently becoming Welsh Champions having beaten Prestatyn High School in the Cup Final in Oswestry.
