Treorchy Comprehensive School

On the 1st of July Year 6 pupils from our feeder schools spent a day with the Welsh department at the Museum of Welsh life at St.Fagans.

This day provided the pupils with the opportunity to make new friends and give them a chance to use the Welsh language outside the confines of the classroom.  A number of pupils from Year 7 also attended to help the primary school children and to answer any questions that they may have had about life at Treorchy Comprehensive School.

At St Fagans, pupils were on a fact finding mission, assisted by members of the department.  Each group started at various points around the museum, and attempted to answer as many of the Welsh questions as they could whilst visiting the various interesting buildings!  It definitely brought out the competitive streak in many, but it was Alex Griffiths from Treorchy Primary who won the challenge.

Everyone enjoyed the sunshine and the fun and Year 6 are looking forward to starting the new term here at Treorchy!

Ar y 1af o Orffennaf, cafodd ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 6 yr ardal gyfle i dreulio diwrnod yng nghwmni’r Adran Gymraeg yn Amgueddfa Werin Cymru yn Sain Ffagan. Rhoddodd y diwrnod yma’r cyfle i ddisgyblion i wneud ffrindiau newydd yn ogystal â chyfle i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg y tu allan i ffurfioldeb y dosbarth. Aeth nifer o ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 7 hefyd i helpu plant yr ysgolion cynradd ac i ateb unrhyw gwestiynau yr oedd ganddynt ynglŷn â bywyd yn Ysgol Gyfun Treorci.

Yn Sain Ffagan, cafodd y disgyblion gyfle i gwblhau cwis. Dechreuodd y grwpiau o wahanol fannau ar draws yr Amgueddfa, ac yna rhaid oedd iddynt deithio o amgylch yr adeiladau diddorol yn chwilio am atebion i’w cwestiynau Cymraeg. Roedd nifer yn gystadleuol iawn, ond Alex Griffiths o Ysgol Gynradd Treorci a enillodd yr her.

Mwynheuodd pawb yr haul a’r hwyl, ac mae Blwyddyn 6 yn edrych ymlaen at ddechrau tymor newydd yma gyda ni yn Nhreorci.
