Treorchy Comprehensive School


Congratulations to the pupils of Treorchy Comprehensive School who took part last weekend in Rhondda Cynnon Taff Going Solo Vocal competition.  The competition was held at Pontypridd High School and Treorchy Comprehensive School were represented in three categories. Junior, Intermediate and Senior. Within each category there was strong competition though Treorchy Comprehensive School achieved two winners and three second places.

In the Junior Category, Jack Johnson of Year 7 (front right) came second after an excellent performance of ‘The Rose’. In the Intermediate section, Georgia Williams (back right) gained second place singing Memory and Jo Sendell (front left) came first with his excellent performance of Electricity from the musical Billy Elliot. The senior category included eighteen competitors and all gave excellent performance. However, after a long deliberation by the adjudicators, first prize was awarded to Sophie Gregory of Year 11 (back centre) and second prize went to Lucy Elson of Year 10 (back left).
 
Theses were excellent result for the pupils and displays the wealth of talent which continues to grow at Treorchy Comprehensive School. Congratulations to all pupils who participated and to Mrs Helen May their vocal teacher in school.
