Treorchy Comprehensive School

Pupils at Treorchy Comprehensive School have recently had a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with Ystradfodwg Art Society in their 41st Annual Art Exhibition. On the 8th July 2010 pupils from each year group in the school celebrated their success in a Presentation Evening where they won prizes for their particular categories.

Viewers at the event noted that this year saw the highest standard and range of work ever. Standards in Year 8 were so high that it was impossible to choose between two pupils! All exhibitors received awards not only for the quality and depth of their artwork but also for their dedication to the subject throughout the academic year.

The event took place at The Parc and Dare Theatre where the pupils’ work was exhibited for a week for members of the public to see.

Winners included: Year 7 – Ellie Jarvis, Year 8 - Georgia Jones and Georgia James, Year 9 – Gemma Dobbs, Year 10 - Sophie Brooks, Year 11 – Alice Vaughan, Year 12 – Lucy Davies and Year 13 – Gavin Thomas.

The overall winner of all groups was Gemma Dobbs from Year 9. Gemma has opted for GCSE next year and we look forward to seeing more of her masterpieces in the future - Watch this space!
