Treorchy Comprehensive School

On Monday 11th October 29 pupils from year 12 and 13 undertook a visit with members of the Art Department to the Tate Modern Museum in London. Pupils were lucky enough to see the opening of a temporary exhibition in the main Turbine Hall of the museum by Chinese artist Ai Weiweia. This was made up of a landscape filled with 100 million porcelain sunflower seeds individually painted.

All pupils enjoyed looking at a range of weird and wonderful pieces of Art from a range of time periods and by many famous British and International artists.

This provided pupils with a great opportunity to research new artists linked to their project themes, as well as providing an opportunity to see how work is displayed and organised. Maybe we will be seeing pupils from Treorchy exhibiting their work in the Tate in years to come.
